The Board of Lady Managers was organized soon after the Home opened in 1895. This group served the Home faithfully and devotedly in the supervision of all domestic affairs.
The Board was reorganized in 1940 and became the Women's Auxiliary. This body continued to fulfill its stated purpose by providing material comforts and programs of direct service to Home residents.
In 1986 the name of the organization was changed to "The Auxiliary of the National Lutheran Home for the Aged," and men could become members of the Auxiliary. This reflected the increasing participation of men in the work of the Auxiliary and now men and women work together to enhance the lives of the Home residents.
