Why Respite Care?
The challenges of caring for a senior is something many people manage on a daily basis-but it can take a toll. The opportunity to occasionally ‘recharge’ is vital to caregiver health and overall well being.
Even with current daytime support in the form of home assistance or adult day programs, many families still have overnight responsibility for their loved one-something that can prevent them from ever really having a break to rest.
This is why we provide Respite Care at the National Lutheran Home & Village at Rockville. Respite Care enables family caregivers to take a vacation, have work done in their home that might be stressful to a senior, attend an important family or business event or even routinely just catch their breath or renew themselves.
Why do Caregivers choose us?
For more than 119 years we have cared for seniors with health and memory/dementia challenges over the age of 65. We focus upon each person as an individual-with his or her own physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs.
Beginning with a consultation with our Nurse Liaison, we create a custom Respite Care Plan that is designed to provide the family with a sense of confidence and engage and delight the resident. Each Respite Care resident also stays in the neighborhood where he or she will have the most compatible company.
What does Respite Care include?
Individual needs may vary, but typically our Respite Care program provides overnight accommodations, medical oversight, all meals and snacks, assistance with personal care needs, access to activities and other recreation. A four-day minimum stay is required. For Respite Care residents, a short stay can be exciting. It offers a supportive opportunity where seniors can try new things, make new acquaintances, and enjoy our amenities.

NLHV offers a secure environment with quality nursing care for guests and families managing the challenges of home care that come with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other conditions that require supervision and regular nursing care. Respite care guests are welcome to participate in any activity planned for residents during their stay. Meals may be served on trays in room or in the dining room, depending on the care level required.
Rates
Respite care is offered at a starting daily rate of $300 depending on care level. Prior to admission, residents and/or agents privately pay the full fee for the desired length of stay. Some respite care guests may be eligible for reimbursement through Montgomery County Respite Services. The resident and/or agent is wholly responsible for applying and qualifying for reimbursement prior to admission if reimbursement is desired.
